Reading 1, Logan

"Ken Price's Time", By. Yau, John.

After reading this article i found myself agreeing and disagreeing with certain topics John Yau pointed out. I most certainly agree that ceramic art is stuck between the world of craft and fine art but not to the point Yau explains within this article. In a way i feel Yau was strictly focusing on the negatives within ceramics, ideals and beliefs passed down by specific critics within the field seemed to be the only thing driving Yau's ideas. Through out the entire article he seemed to portray Price as this new-aged, trend-setting artist within the ceramic community, but not only has Ken Price been pushing ideals within ceramics, he has been doing it for some time along side so many others. The question Yau touched on but not in depth, is this sudden interest with his art after his death!  I believe Ken Price and so many other ceramic artist have been doing exactly what John Yau believed Price had accomplished within this show. Why a sudden interest in his art and art like his only after his death? Not only has Price been doing this for years, there have been and still are ceramic potters that address, embrace, interact, avoid, and explore the world of modern art.
